Message Sharing

While I was in town for the Alumni Weekend, I attended Cheryl's church. She attends Transformation Church. They are doing a series called Sabotaged and this year's message was about your past.

Have a listen!

Alumni Weekend Recap

Thank you so much to all the ladies that were able to make it to the alumni weekend (whether in person or in spirit)! We had a blast!

If you missed out on dinner, everyone raved about their meal. Next time you're in Rock Hill, I definitely recommend visiting Five & Dine.

Bowling was a hoot! We broke up into two teams and had a little contest. The losing team had to sing and dance to a song of the winning team's choice at some point during the Alumni Brunch. The chosen song was Roar by Katy Perry.

The Alumni Brunch was great and opened with a ice breaker so we could get to know the current sisters. There are so many cool ladies! It was a good time of fellowship and I loved catching up with everyone.

The chapter meeting was short and sweet. You can read the minutes by visiting the Alumni Chapter's Facebook page and clicking on Files. If you have problems accessing that, we can email you a copy.

If you were not able to make it this year, I hope you'll be able to come to next year's alumni weekend. It is always a good time.

Message Sharing

Hello friends! The message given at my church this past Sunday was definitely worth sharing with the Alumni Weekend coming up. The message is the second part of the "Is This Love?" series and it was about "The 'I Pick You' Kind of Love," aka friendship.

I highly recommend listening to the message. It gave me a lot to think about, not just in relation to Alpha Omega, but also to friendships in all other areas of my life.

One thing that I keep thinking about is he said friendship requires sacrifice. John 15:13 says "There is no greater way to love than to give your life for your friends." We know Jesus said this in reference to giving his life for all of us when he died on the cross. But the pastor believes (and I agree) that it doesn't always have to mean dying for your friends. You can sacrifice other parts of your life for your friends.

With the Alpha Omega Alumni Chapter, we do not all know each other. We went to school at different times and may never cross paths. But we did share a similar life experience and there is something that binds us together. New friends can be made through this and friendships strengthened. I hope that if you haven't given the group a chance that you will in the future. Maybe even start this weekend!

A few reminders

First, the monthly newsletter is coming out tomorrow or Monday. You can still submit prayer requests, announcements and the like through the end of today. You can post them on the Facebook group page, message them through the Facebook page or email us.

We have our annual Alumni Weekend coming up. I don't know about you, but I am excited!

Friday night will include the Alumni Dinner and Bowling. Check the events page for details on location and times. The restaurant is fairly new, but their menu looks amazing! The chicken and waffle is calling my name. :)

The weekend continues with the Alumni Brunch on Saturday. This year's theme is all about hats! Check out our earlier post with some hat inspiration. If you don't have a hat, don't let that stop you! You are welcome with or without some head fashion.

Following the Alumni Brunch we will gather for the Alumni Chapter meeting. The meeting should not take too long since there is not a whole lot to discuss. But one thing on the table for discussion will be the upcoming twenty year reunion. We will start looking for volunteers to plan the reunion festivities.

After the chapter meeting, the weekend is all yours. Enjoy a walk around campus, grab some coffee or dinner with sisters you have not seen in a while or visit another Rock Hill/Charlotte hot spot.

My church has started a new series called "Is This Love?" The first message was a great reminder for us married folks. It is also a good message for those of you who are not yet married, divorced or widowed. I hope you enjoy!

Hats, hats, hats

The Alumni Weekend is fast approaching. We have just about 11 days! Alpha Omega announced the theme for this year's Brunch. It is all about hats! Wear your biggest, prettiest, most outlandish, and best hat to be festive. In the spirit, I thought I would share some pictures to inspire you.

You could make a mini hat to wear with a pin or on a headband

The last two parts on the Dream message series are just as great as the first two. I highly recommend listening to them. It will really open your eyes about what God has in store for your future.
