Thank you to the alumni that attended the Alumni Weekend events! It means a lot to me that you came in from out of town or made time out of your busy schedule to support our chapter and each other. It was fun catching up and hearing about what is going on in your lives. I always feel like the weekend goes by so quickly, but hopefully new region leaders can spark some excitement and plan some more local events to help us all stay more connected.
I wanted to sum up the things we discussed in the Chapter meeting for all of you that were unable to attend.
In keeping with last year, the dues for 2013 are $10. You can mail a check made payable to Cheryl F. Please email us for her address. We decided to give a 30 days deadline to pay dues for anyone who would like to vote in this year’s election. We will send out a voting ballot on April 1st, so please make sure to pay dues prior to that if you would like to vote this year.
We nominated for executive board. Nominations include:
- President: Kristen T.
- Vice President: Ashley L.
- Secretary: Jenn M.
- Treasurer: Cheryl F.
Even though only one person was nominated for each position, we will still include this on the ballot to vote on. If you would like to nominate someone, please do so by April 1st.
We discussed the determination for Alumni status with some current Alpha Omega sisters. They requested that we change the wording of our Constitution to reflect that a sister has to graduate, transfer or leave Winthrop before being eligible for the Alumni Chapter. This will fall more in line with the wording of their Constitution and they feel that this will discourage sisters from leaving Alpha Omega before their time at Winthrop is up to join the Alumni chapter. The alumni in attendance suggested that we change the wording in the Constitution to reflect any former member of Alpha Omega for at least one year could be considered an Alpha Omega Alumni. We will put this to a vote with the ballot to be sent out on April 1st.
We discussed appointing new region leaders. If anyone is interested in helping plan events for their region, please contact us! We will promote it for you via the website, Facebook and email newsletters. All you have to do is make the plan!
Lastly, we talked with the current sisters about doing more with them. It was suggested that we work together to serve Winthrop and the local community. We also talked about doing an event in conjunction with Senior Send-off. Everyone in attendance agreed that both would be great to do!
